The UCD MNRC strives to be the premier research facility of its
kind on the West Coast and in the country. Our reactor design allows
for multiple applications ranging from medical applications, research
experiments, nondestructive testing, education, and other beneficial
uses of nuclear radiation.
|
We conduct and facilitate a wide variety
of research that involves Imaging
and Irradiation including:
- Biomedical Research
(boron neutron capture therapy,
radiopharmaceuticals, biochemistry, genetics and human nutrition)
- Neutron Activation Analysis
(archaeology and anthropology,
geochemistry, analytic epidemiology, nutrition and immunology,
actinide chemistry, elemental analysis for geological samples)
- Materials Science
(electronic and mechanical properties,
magnetic and crystal structure, nanostructures and excitations,
neutron optics, gamma ray scanning, cosmo-chemistry, nondestructive
evaluation)
- Environmental Research
- Nuclear Engineering
- Industrial Isotope Research and Development
- Nondestructive Inspection Techniques
- Advance Imaging Techniques
